Surviving First-Time Travel

Posted @ Sep 19th 2011 2:41pm - By Administrator

Travelling alone for the first time can give anyone that jittery feeling of excitement and nerves.  It's scary, exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time. Most holiday-goers do no have regrets taking that first leap and would never have had it any other way. The trick is to plan their holiday carefully so they may not encounter a lot of trouble.

Here are some tips:

1. Start at home.

Everyone wants to start off their first holiday with a bang, but it would be wise to do your first holiday trip (especially your first solo trip) somewhere in your own country. Most Australians take their choose from the hundreds of Gold Coast holiday deals posted online, travel agencies, magazines, etc. The purpose of of travelling within your country but in unfamiliar territory is that it will be a combination of being out of your comfort zone yet not entirely foreign because you'll still be speaking your language and using your currency.

2. Do your homework

The main reason why people feel nervous about travelling alone is because they're unprepared. They worry about basic things like how to use public transport and whether it'll be safe to walk at night. There's a very simple solution to this- do a whole lot of reading about the city/country you're going to. Guests booked at Pacific Plaza Apartments can ask the approachable reception staff to organize theme park and tour bookings. If you're too lazy to check out attractions, we can also provide suggestions on the top destinations for swimming, dining, and sheer revelry near our Gold Coast family apartments.

3. You will be OK.

Yes, you will be, if you: avoid dangerous areas, which you'll discover from your research; stay in at night unless you're with a group of people you've learnt to trust; and keep note of the last bus or Metro service so that you know when to start heading back to your apartment.  When staying at our Surfers Paradise beachfront accommodation, you feel much safer at it sits at the heart of tourist central.  You can be assured that you won't be alone.

The main tip is to always be cautious of your surroundings but don't let it stop you from having fun!
